I can't believe "Alien Soup" have sold up, I've visited that site many times in the past and thought the theme used there looked really good, and it seemed like a very popular forum. Nice buy I have to say, but why did they sell now all of a sudden? That wasn't a forum I expected would have sold up.
I've always thought the same, it was one of the first really custom vBulletin sites that I can remember. Back when vbtemplates was a big site, before the merger to the Org. I was very happy when Jason and I hooked up for this deal. :good: You'd have to ask him on that, but I think it's similar to the reason I sold vBSetup. We have both have growing families and it comes to a point where time is worth more then money. I know he owns another giant forum and maybe a few more, he's a busy guy
Well if he owns a few more other large forums, then fair enough, I can see maybe he wanted to lessen his workload then. Like you I remember it from ages back when I saw it and thought Wow what a great looking forum, way back when like you say.
We're slowly getting the content sorted and pushed out on the forums. It'll take us a week to get a newsletter together, we should see a nice spike when that happens.
*update* I have all but one forum out in public, you'll see we added several of the forums from Aliensoup, and merged the rest of the content into the corresponding categories. I'm updating the counters so the site might seem a little sluggish until those are finished. Please report any bugs or errors you see in the feedback section. Thanks for the support everyone.
Thanks for the kind words, guys. Yeah I'm just lightening my workload for a little while, and giving some time to some new projects I've had on hold.. 10 years was a long time for a forum. Anyway, I want to continue innovating and for that I need some time. Not to mention a boatload of work I have to do at my new home, and keeping an eye on my kids (twins almost 2 now)! I'll be sticking around, so I'm sure I'll get to know a few of you. Best wishes with the project!

I see our pages are getting indexed pretty quickly. We started at about 800 pages indexed. When I imported the GBL forum last week, we jumped up to 1200ish. Now we're at 1800 and climbing. site:general-forums.com - Google Search
