I was going through my old, ratty cook-book (not the kind you buy; the kind you write all your recipes down in that you want to keep), and came across a poem written by, at the time, a nine-year-old boy called Jin Hwa. It was published in a cookbook I likely got from the library many years ago, so he's likely an adult by now. Anyway, this is how it goes:
Flower Soup
Just put some roses
in a soup and put
some dandelions in it too
and if you really want
to make it good add
some daisies in the soup
invite your friend over if you can
and when your friend
says "boy that smells
as good as flowers" laugh
your petals off.
I just love that poem; it gives me a lift. Hugely optimistic, it reminds me that the world, for all it's size, can be made to fit.
Flower Soup
